August has traded his rabble-rousing American roots for a vineyard on a remote Greek island, where he and his young Mediterranean bride, Daphne, live in seemingly newly wedded bliss. The expatriate antihero is poised to taste the fruits of his first harvest when he is interrupted by Liza, whose sudden presence is as disconcerting as the radio announcement welcoming Ronald Reagan as America's newest president.
